Brief description of the 4 Challenges
1. Hagastaden
Hagastaden will be an urban area with 6,000 new dwellings and 50,000 workplaces in Stockholm and Solna. Up until 2025, Hagastaden, today the hub of the Stockholm region’s life science cluster, will be developed to form a new urban district with housing, retail, culture and parks.
One aspect that makes the 7-billion-euro project of special interest is that most of the dwellings and the workplaces on the Stockholm side are built on top of a complex network of tunnels and garages. This creates a entirely new neighbourhood next to the existing well-established city. The area will also be developed in accordance with Stockholm's ambitious vision of 2040, where social and democratic sustainability are key elements. How will and can this vision and dimensions be translated into practice and the turnover realized? What are the social challenges and the opportunities?
2. Trafikförvaltningen Stockholms läns landsting
Public transport in Stockholm County should be easily accessible, reliable and environmentally friendly. AB Storstockholms Lokaltrafik (Stockholm Public Transport, SL), Waxholmsbolaget and Färdtjänsten are responsible for transport services in greater Stockholm. The number of travellers are already very high and rises each year.
Trafikförvaltningen are working with several areas within social sustainability, such as security, equality, accessability and others. How can we create a public transport which is for all in our society and how can we use public transport as a mean to increase equality in our society?
3. Haninge kommun
In the City Development Plan for Haninge City, one of the city-building principles are, "Public spaces are planned and designed to strengthen security and prevent crime" and Overview Plan 2030 highlight the need to work on gender equality planning.
The security also depends on the movement patterns a site generates. Insecurity, for example, reduces accessibility to public transport as well as walking and cycling. With increased safety and security, not only can the prosperity be increased but also the planning's ability to generate equality, inclusive and climate-friendly environments. But how should this happen? What methods, tools and measures create spatial security and security?
4. One Stockholm
20 years ago, Stockholm was one of the least fragmentated cities in Europe. The last 20 years, Stockholm has however been one of the cities in Europe with fastest fragmentation in different areas.
How can we stop this trend and increase the feeling of one Stockholm?
Have in mind that the registration starts from 07:30 a.m to 08:00 a.m so please try to be on time so you don't miss any of the case descriptions.!
